TAMPA, October 8, 2013

IFCO SYSTEMS, the global leader in Reusable Plastic Containers (RPCs) for fresh products, announced the line-up of activities at PMA Fresh Summit to be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans October 18-20, 2013. The themes for IFCO’s booth at this year’s show focus on kids nutrition, fresh produce merchandising and sustainability.

Ratto, who uses IFCO RPCs at his vegetable farm in Modesto, Calif., and Femal will discuss the impact of reusable packaging on three kinds of waste: cost/labor, product/food and environmental in the day-to-day produce supply chain from field to retail.

“Ratto Bros. and IFCO Systems are working together to encourage sustainable business practices throughout the extended produce distribution channels, while making the supply chain more efficient. This session will feature several examples of how this is effectively being accomplished now and how it will improve productivity and lower the carbon footprint even more in the future,” said Femal.

As the market leader with more than 175 million RPCs in circulation worldwide, IFCO is the leading provider of reusable containers to the fresh food sector. IFCO handles all RPC logistics, from manufacturing to cleaning to re-entry into the supply chain. After retail use, IFCO RPCs are folded, collected and shipped back to one of IFCO’s service facilities, where they are sanitized and prepared for re-use.
