Insider tips from IFCO for 2017 Fresh Summit

written by IFCO SYSTEMS, 17th Oktober 2017, in Stories

Each year we look forward to seeing all of the latest innovations, news, and faces from the fresh produce industry and continuing to create a better fresh supply chain with each of you. As seasoned Fresh Summit veterans, we have a couple of tips for this year’s show in New Orleans that can go a long way!

Arrive with a plan

With so many companies, people, and events all happening in one place, it’s essential to arrive in New Orleans with a strategy to make meaningful interactions and conversations happen. You can pick out companies from the exhibitor list and use the "My Expo Plan" app to create a personalized list of exhibitors to visit. Sync it on your mobile app and you can have a roadmap for who to see and visit while you’re on the show floor.

Know your way around the convention center

The New Orleans Convention center is 1.1 miles long. Determine in advance how long it will take to walk from one appointment to the next so that you can plan your time and schedule appropriately. Scope out less used entrances in order to avoid waiting in long cab lines and wear comfortable shoes.

Don’t forget the educational sessions

To stay on the cutting edge of trends, industry developments, and new technology, be sure to attend the various educational sessions offered on Thursday. You can hear from experts and thought leaders within the industry and take important lessons and insights back to your business. We’re looking forward to attending to "Avoiding a Produce Transport Meltdown" and "Emerging Supply Chain Technologies: Game Changers or Toy of the Month."

Meet with us and join us for happy hour!

We invite you to request a meeting with us to learn more about working together to build a more efficient and effective supply chain. Plus, we’d love for you to stop by booth #529 for happy hour on Friday, October 20th from 3pm – 4pm for a cocktail with the IFCO and CHEP team.

Lastly…let’s eat!

You can’t go to New Orleans without getting a taste of its impressive food scene. We recommend that you treat yourself to at least one of the following restaurants if you’re looking for an incredible flavorful experience:

  • Galatoire’s: If you’re looking for an elegant evening in the heart of the French Quarter, Galatoire’s is your place. This 112-year-old traditional restaurant boasts classic creole cuisine to satisfy your craving for some old-school New Orleans flair.

  • Willie Mae’s Scotch House: If you’ve got a hankering for soulful fried chicken, Willie Mae’s will do the trick. This beloved spot offers what some call the city’s best chicken along with mashed potatoes, green beans, and cornbread.

  • Compère Lapin: If you’d like something different, Compère Lapin offers a unique menu inspired by Caribbean and Italian flavors. Chef Nina Compton weaves personal experience and storytelling into an intriguing menu—curried goat with sweet potato gnocchi and Hamachi with guava curry are just a few of the choices available.
