The optimum properties of IFCO reusable plastic containers are also evident when returning empties from the retail business to the distribution centre.
The empty RPCs can be stacked securely in a space-saving manner. This means that fewer pallets and moveable containers need to be transported, resulting in better truck capacity utilisation and more efficient loading and unloading.
After arrival at the distribution centre, the empty IFCOs are stacked on pallets ready for collection. As all IFCO RPCs have a uniform empty stack height of 34.3mm, no sorting by type is required.
256 crates with basic dimensions of 60 x 40cm (type 64xx) or 512 crates with basic dimensions of 30 x 40cm (type 43xx) can be stacked on each pallet. Only a small area of storage space is therefore required.
As soon as a specific quantity of RPCs is reached, IFCO collects the empties. The high volume reduction of IFCO crates is also an advantage here. Up to 8448 crates (type 64xx) or 16896 crates (type 43xx) are returned per truck.
This keeps the number of loading operations down to a minimum and the valuable ramps and handling areas in the warehouse are not cluttered with empties.
